Ring-tailed Lemur

Fact:
Highly social, these endearing primates can be found in groups of up to 30 individuals. They feed on nuts, fruit and other vegetable matter, as well as invertebrates and bird eggs.

Habitat:
Gallery forest and scrubland.

Threats:
Habitat loss through deforestation is the primary threat.

Range:
Southern and Southwestern Madagascar.

Additional Information:
They communicate with loud vocalizations and leave more subtle messages by way of scent marking on vegetation. Lemur society is female dominated.
