Fact: Adapted to desert conditions, they can go without water for long periods of time attaining all their moisture from the plants they eat.
Habitat: Open scrubland, stony plains, dunes and rocky mountain areas.
Threats: Hunting for meat, skins and as trophies. Overgrazing by livestock and habitat loss.
Range: Southern Africa.
Additional Information: Gemsbok often live and graze with zebra and other gazelle species.
