Al Ain Zoo is home to the Aldabra gentle giants
Al Ain Zoo has houses two Aldabra giant tortoises, which are at least 50 years old and weighing between 120 and 140 kilograms, as the Zoo intensifies efforts to provide protection for these species, the Zoo insures the best veterinary care, providing them with the right nutrition, the best habitat, and the care they need to thrive.
The Aldabra giant tortoise is the second largest tortoise species in the world, which makes it a very interesting animal for visitors to experience, these gentle, slow-moving creatures are fascinating to all our visitors, young and old.
Al Ain Zoo has houses a total of 13 species of chelonians (turtles and tortoises), distributed all different areas throughout the zoo, in Al Ain Safari, Core Zoo, Children discovery zoo, and other locations. The Zoo has always aimed to have the best breeding programs and animal care standards, to insure the preservation of endangered species.
