Thandy is a southern white rhino, an endangered species that paid the price for urbanization and poaching. This is why the Zoo is always keen to provide all the care programs and strategies that contribute to protecting it from the brink of extinction, one of which is by adopting the best protection programs based on the highest international standards.
Rhinos are herbivorous and thanks to its wide square-shaped upper lip, grazing is easy. Rhinos have sharp hearing, but their eyesight isn’t as strong. They mostly depend on their sense of smell when eating.
Visitors can enjoy watching rhinos roam freely as they wander around in a habitat similar to their African home during Al Ain Safari tours. Spectators can also enjoy these magnificent creatures at the rhino exhibition that allows visitors to observe them up-close with the highest safety standards in place.
